Challenge

Rinnai was already the leader in the category, but brand awareness was low, and competitors were beginning to creep into the space.

Some dealers were intimidated by the complexity of replacing a traditional hot water tank with a tankless unit as well as the higher cost, as dealers were not equipped with the proper sales techniques and data to convert customers.

Strategy

We proposed a virtual reality experience where dealers could install the new product “first-hand” and implemented it at numerous existing events, including IBS, customer VIP events and Rinnai’s own mobile marketing tour.

This game-ified approach was the perfect standout and earned the product plenty of attention from the media and, most importantly, industry tradesmen.
